Organisation

There were 3 different parts to the SOE:
 
  • SO1 dealt with the propaganda, like handing out leaflets and making posters.
  • SO2 carried out all the secret operations and all the sabotage, for example, blowing up bridges, railways lines and things which were important to the Germans.
  • SO3 did all the research, but got overloaded with paperwork too quickly so that later joined up with SO2

Code breaking was also a part of SOE which was based at Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire. They printed the codes at one location and then someone would take them by motorbike to Bletchley Park to decode them. This place was one of the most secret places in WW2. The Enigma Decoder Machine was also a part of this.
