SOE Missions

Operation Savanna

This was the first operation of the SOE and the French resistance into German occupied France.
The mission was to ambush and kill as many German pilots as possible at Meucan airfield.
On the 15th of March 1941  5 paratroopers were dropped near Vannes. The mission failed and only 3 survived

Operation Josephine B

Operation Josephine B was a military mission in June 1941, organised by the French resistance and the SOE.
6 out of 8 transformers were destroyed which resulted in an Italian submarine base not being able to operate for a while.
A team of 6 paratroopers were dropped by parachutes into France and used explosives to blow up the transformers.

Operation Foxley

Operation Foxley was a mission in 1944 to assasinate Hitler.
A sniper attack was planned in detail. The plan used information from a German prisoner who told his captors that Hitler took a twenty minute walk every morning when he was in burghof, around 10:00 am and would be unprotected.
The assassination was never carried out as there was a concern that whoever replaced Hitler might be better fighting the Allies because Hitler wasn't that good at war strategy.
